Validation of an instrument for assessing vaccination status in life cycles

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the semantic and content validity of the Vaccination Status Assessment in Life Cycles instrument. Methods: This is a methodological instrument validation study. Data collection took place in 2021 and was divided into two stages: the first focused on content validity and the second on semantic validity. Data analysis consisted of calculating the Content Validity Index and the inter-judge agreement index in the first stage, followed by descriptive analysis using the brainstorming technique in the second stage. The study was submitted to the Research Ethics Committee and received a favorable opinion. Results: The required content validity criteria achieved a satisfactory score, as did inter-judge agreement, with only the language criterion receiving a lower score. Regarding the semantic validity evidence, all professionals reported no difficulty understanding the instrument, emphasizing its potential to minimize the challenges faced by professionals during the vaccination process. Conclusion: The instrument has content and semantic validity, which lends credibility to its use in public health services linked to the Unified Health System that provide immunization.
