Methods: This is an epidemiological, quantitative, and exploratory study carried out with information from SISCAN, SIM, and the ICD-10 Mortality Monitoring Panel, based on the following variables: region and Federative Unit (UF) of diagnosis, age group, therapeutic modality, treatment time, color/race, marital status, and place of death. Results: A total of 39,550 women were diagnosed between 2013 and 2023, with 2023 being the year with the highest number of cases (n = 8,312), with emphasis on the southeast region of the country (43.09%). This neoplasm was more prevalent in women aged between 50 and 54 years old (24%). During the period analyzed, the total number of women who died from the disease was equivalent to 15.09% (n = 5,971) of the number of female diagnoses of thyroid neoplasia. Conclusion: The number of diagnoses of thyroid neoplasia in women increased by 5,541% from 2013 to 2023. However, female mortality in each year remained close to the average value for the period (542 deaths/year). The activities included simulations of care for deaf patients during an optional Libras course for medical students, discussion groups with representatives of the deaf community, and photographic and film records. Experience report: The strategies involved the use of basic Libras signs for clinical procedures, such as measuring blood pressure, body temperature, and lung auscultation, in addition to the creation of visual codes to express pain levels. The importance of adapted medical prescriptions with visual symbols to facilitate understanding by deaf patients was highlighted. Conclusion: The experience highlighted communicative barriers that impact the quality of care for the deaf population. The need to train health professionals in Libras is highlighted, as well as the adoption of practices that guarantee accessibility, promoting a more humanized and effective relationship in health care.

Keywords: Libras; Health professionals; Care.
2025-02-04T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Revista Científica Integradahttps://revistas.unaerp.br/rci/article/view/3607Impacts of spirituality on the mental health of university students during the COVID-19 pandemic: a scoping review2024-12-12T21:38:38-03:00Fabio Araújo Diasfabiodiaspsi@gmail.comEliane Ramos Pereiraelianeramos.uff@gmail.comRose Mary Costa Rosa Andrade Silvaroserosauff@gmail.comAngelica Yolanda Bueno Bejarano Vale de Medeirosangelicaflow@gmail.comIsadora Pinto Floresisadoraflores@outlook.com
Objective: To map the literature on the possible impacts of spirituality on the mental health of university students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: Scoping review according to the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology. An initial limited search was conducted in June 2024 in MEDLINE/PubMed and Scopus to identify articles on the topic. The words in the titles and abstracts of relevant articles and the terms used to describe the articles were used to create a complete search strategy for MEDLINE, EMBASE, Scopus and Web of Science. Results: 14 articles were selected for review, and their contents were summarized in three axes: methodological design; samples and countries in relation to the pandemic context; research objectives and findings in relation to the concepts of spirituality and mental health. Conclusion: Spirituality acts as a protective factor against maladaptive reactions to loss, especially during a pandemic. It functions as a positive coping strategy and reduces avoidance behaviors, reduces anxiety and depression, and contributes to the mental well-being of university students during times of crisis.
2025-02-12T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Revista Científica Integradahttps://revistas.unaerp.br/rci/article/view/3750Safety of hormonal treatments in women with genitourinary syndrome of menopause and a history of breast cancer: systematic review and meta-analysis2025-05-27T23:03:52-03:00Alicia Jorgelina Goyeneche Sobreira aliciaadv.as@gmail.comJosé Fernandes de Souza Viana joseviana@gmail.comPaula Rita Leite da Silva paularita@gmail.com
Objective: To analyze the use of hormonal therapy in women with genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM) and a history of breast cancer. Methods: This is a systematic review conducted in April 2025, including observational studies and clinical trials published between 2019 and 2024 in the PubMed, Scopus, SciELO, and BVS databases. Studies investigating postmenopausal women diagnosed with GSM, with a history of breast cancer and using hormonal therapy, were included. A meta-analysis was performed using a random-effects model, considering hazard ratios (HR) and their respective confidence intervals. Results: Of the 105 studies identified, 10 met the eligibility criteria, totaling 142,717 women. The most frequent intervention was the use of vaginal estrogen. The meta-analysis revealed a pooled HR of 0.95 (95% CI: 0.87–1.03), suggesting no significant risk for recurrence or mortality. Studies also reported improvement in GSM symptoms without elevation in serum estradiol levels. Conclusion: Evidence suggests that the use of vaginal estrogen in women with GSM and a history of breast cancer is safe when carefully indicated. Clinical decisions should consider the individual profile of each patient, promoting evidence-based interventions that enhance quality of life.
2025-07-10T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Revista Científica Integradahttps://revistas.unaerp.br/rci/article/view/3123Inadequate safety aspects for the proper functioning of a nightclub: a document analysis2024-02-08T09:30:55-03:00Ruty Rosa de Britorutyrosadebrito@gmail.comCayttano Saul de Sá Zarpellonengcayttanozarpellon@gmail.com
Objective: To analyze the inadequate safety aspects present in the design of the Kiss Nightclub, relating them to the failures that contributed to the tragedy that occurred on January 27, 2013, in Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Method: Documentary research was conducted based on academic databases and technical documents, including the technical report issued by CREA-RS, which contains the building’s floor plan. Results: The comparative analysis between the architectural design and the fire safety standards in force at the time revealed several irregularities, such as insufficient emergency exits, absence or inadequacy of the emergency lighting system, inadequate quantity and placement of fire extinguishers, deficient emergency signage, lack of a fire detection and alarm system, use of highly flammable finish materials, and absence of smoke control and exhaust systems. These failures acted cumulatively, contributing to the rapid spread of the fire, the release of toxic gases, and the difficulty of evacuation, resulting in high lethality. Conclusion: The lack of strict compliance with safety standards in environments with large public circulation represents a serious threat to human life and may lead to catastrophic events, reinforcing the importance of the role of civil engineers and regulatory agencies in the development, approval, and maintenance of fire prevention and control projects.
2025-11-06T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Revista Científica Integradahttps://revistas.unaerp.br/rci/article/view/3303Interventions for managing preoperative anxiety in patients with brain neoplasms: an integrative review2024-04-24T21:41:24-03:00Adonias da Silva Sampaio Junioradoniasjr_@hotmail.comBreno de Oliveira Ferreirabreno@ufam.edu.br
Objective: To identify the interventions used in managing anxiety in patients during the preoperative phase of brain neoplasm surgery. Method: Integrative review conducted in the Embase, Lilacs, PubMed/MEDLINE, Scielo, Scopus, and Web of Science databases in February 2024. The eligibility criteria included full-text studies published in the last 10 years, available free of charge, in English, Portuguese, or Spanish. Studies that did not focus on the preoperative phase and those including populations under 16 years of age were excluded. Results: A total of 7,738 articles were found, with only 10 articles included in the final sample. The main interventions identified were categorized into pharmacological – flupirtine and pregabalin; and non-pharmacological – holistic care, acupuncture, music intervention, virtual reality, perioperative nursing, physician-patient communication, and patient-centered approach. Conclusion: Different interventions have been used to manage preoperative anxiety in patients with brain neoplasms, with emphasis on non-pharmacological approaches, which have shown greater adherence and support due to their cost-effectiveness, minimally invasive nature, and low risk of adverse effects. However, further research is needed to expand the range of interventions available for this population.
2025-02-27T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Revista Científica Integradahttps://revistas.unaerp.br/rci/article/view/3115Menstrual poverty and the dignity of people who menstruate2024-02-08T09:26:07-03:00Bianka Jaquetti Macribiankajaquetti@hotmail.comJuvêncio Borges Silvajsilva@unaerp.br
Menstrual poverty is a problem that is currently being widely debated. In short, it is the lack of access basic sanitation and personal hygiene items needed during the menstrual period, such as sanitary pads and toilet paper. This problem is experienced by menstruators who don't have enough income to afford these products. Lacking them, they end up using other means to deal with the bleeding during this period, such as tissues and, in cases of greater poverty, breadcrumbs. Because of this, the federal government is studying ways to make menstruation more dignified for people on low incomes. This article aims to introduce concepts about menstruation, menstrual poverty and menstrual dignity. It points to data on menstrual poverty, as well as the measures already adopted to minimize the suffering and rescue the dignity of people in poverty who menstruate and addresses possible solutions to this problem.
2025-02-04T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Revista Científica Integrada
