Abstract

Objective: Report the experience of nursing students from the State University of Pará in a health education project to promote knowledge about immunization and its importance to elementary school students in a public school. Method: For this project, a game entitled "Immunized" was developed, consisting of a variety of cards with illustrations, symbols, and sayings related to immunization, viruses, and bacteria, as well as a poster with information about vaccination, such as the vaccination schedule and mechanisms of action of vaccines. The action involved 102 participants, and the data were obtained through the analysis of questionnaires on the level of knowledge of the topic, answered subjectively by the students. Results: The results demonstrated a significant improvement in their knowledge about immunization. The results indicate that most participants were positively impacted in terms of their current knowledge on the subject. Conclusion: These results were considered satisfactory, given the need to disseminate knowledge about immunization in order to demystify the idea of the ineffectiveness of vaccines and maintain the eradication of diseases that have been achieved long ago.
