Abstract

This article is based on a master's thesis “Displacements and(m) discourse: a material analysis of politics and journalism in Ribeirão Preto”. We engaged in an analysis of journalistic texts, written for press offices and official communication channels in Ribeirão Preto, published between 2005 and 2020. Our reading gesture was based on the French Matrix Discourse Analysis, focusing on a materialist investigation of the speech. An analysis defended and proved two theses that guided this research: a) Public communication in Ribeirão Preto uses as practices and form-journalism in its statements for legitimate political practices; b) when working together, journalism and politics shift their words, distort their foundations and approach advertising language.
