CONSTRUCTION OF TRUTH:
an analysis of the British media coverage on Brazil during the Covid-19 pandemic
Abstract
This article analyzes international media coverage, focusing on how British news outlets, known for their diversity and influence, reported on Brazil during this critical period. The research examines journalistic narratives, considering not only the facts reported but also the editorial choices and discursive strategies employed in the construction of the news pieces. This study also discusses the media's responsibility to balance the pursuit of truth with commercial and political pressures. By applying theories of truth to the analysis of Brazil's coverage, we aim to understand how these narratives shaped global perceptions of the country and what impacts can be observed in contemporary international relations.
