Peer-review evaluation process
The Revista Científica Integrada (RCI) uses the double anonymous peer-review system as the guiding principle for its evaluation method, preserving the anonymity of authors and reviewers. Thus, the estimated time frame for the initial evaluation may range between 90 and 120 days, depending on the complexity of the work, the availability of reviewers, and the need for requested adjustments. On average, the period between submission and final publication of the article may reach up to five months, including the stages of evaluation, author revisions, editing, and publication. These time frames reflect RCI’s commitment to methodological consistency, research ethics, and editorial excellence.
The Editor-in-Chief, based on the issued reviews, decides on approval, a request for revision, or rejection of the manuscript text.
Standardization, ethics, and good practices
The Revista Científica Integrada (RCI) is standardized following the “Uniform requirements for manuscripts submitted to biomedical journals” (Vancouver style) and adopts the recommendations of ethical codes of conduct in publication of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) (https://publicationethics.org/), as well as the Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors, and the standards of the National Research Ethics Commission (CONEP). Within the RCI editorial process, specialized similarity-detection software is used at different stages of editorial evaluation. Manuscripts that present improper content overlap, lack of appropriate citation, data manipulation, or violation of ethical principles will be summarily rejected, archived, and/or retracted, depending on the severity of the infraction, and may also result in editorial sanctions against the authors, in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
