Mental health of the transgender population: an integrative review

Objective: To analyze the mental health of the transgender population, identifying the prevalence and factors associated with illness. Methods: This is a literature review, conducted in the following databases: SciELO, LILACS, BDENF, and MEDLINE, using the respective descriptors: Transgender people AND Mental health AND Mental health care, between the years 2017 and 2025. The selection of articles followed the following inclusion criteria: studies available in full text free of charge in Portuguese, published in the last five years, whose results meet the objectives of this study. Duplicate articles and those that, after full reading, were found not to meet the objectives proposed by the research were excluded. Results: It was identified that monitoring the transgender population is necessary for a good quality of life. Conclusion: Therefore, guidance from health professionals on the mental health of the transgender population is essential.
