Provável sarcopenia e sarcopenia entre idosos atendidos em uma clínica escola

Objetivo: Estimar a prevalência, a incidência e os fatores associados à provável sarcopenia e sarcopenia entre idosos atendidos em uma clínica escola. Método: Estudo longitudinal prospectivo entre agosto de 2016 a novembro de 2018. Foi dividido em dois momentos, o seguimento transversal de agosto de 2016 a novembro de 2018 (n=129), e prospectivo de agosto de 2018 a novembro de 2018 (n=66). As variáveis provável sarcopenia e sarcopenia foram agrupadas em uma só, constituindo a variável dependente. Resultados: A prevalência e incidência de sarcopenia e provável sarcopenia foi de 34,1% e 35,7%. Na análise multivariada do estudo transversal, as variáveis idade, não morar com cônjuge e ser ex-tabagista foram associadas com a variável dependente. No estudo prospectivo, a análise reforçou associação entre idade, não morar com cônjuge e apresentar sintomas da doença do refluxo gastroesofágico. Conclusão: Considera-se alta a prevalência e incidência de provável sarcopenia e sarcopenia entre os idosos avaliados, e ressalta-se a necessidade de se estudar os fatores associados a esse desfecho.
