Abstract

Along with a hypothetical technological unemployment, one of the most adverse effects associated with the phenomenon of "industry 4.0" is the presumed segmentation of the labor market, as a consequence of the digital gap that will rise up between those who have and those who lack the necessary skills to face the challenges of contemporary (and future) employment. Even, the phenomenon can be intensified by the results derived from COVID-19, whose severe negative impact on the world of work is unquestionable. In this context, among the set of instruments available to deal with the situation, the training of the workforce will play a relevant role. For that reason, this text seeks to reflect about the role of training as a social protection mechanism in favor of certain worker collectives.
