CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE 1988 FEDERAL CONSTITUTION TO THE BRAZILIAN SCENARIO
Abstract
Faced with a hypothetical deductive study, the research seeks to understand the importance of the actions the Public´s Power in promoting citizenship, aimed at awakening citizens the affairs of the state, the participation in political life and interest in public affairs, ie foster the habit of active citizenship and social control for the common good. The study shows that the embarrassment in the consolidation of the culture of active citizenship is based on structural problems suffered by the majority of the population, from the lack of material access conditions or mechanisms provided by the public power, even in the most sensitive sense, which is lack of perception of the relevance of involvement in state life, which is also a macro problem generated by the lack of quality education and circulation of information. The 1988 Constitution created mechanisms for active participation, but due to cultural factors of both the public power and the citizens, the effectiveness of democracy and citizenship are undermined.
