Abstract

This paper analyzes the challenges and benefits arising from globalization, specifically the dilemmas arising from digital expansion faced by the vulnerable group in our society, which involves the elderly. It is noted that along with technological and digital development, with

the emergence of artificial intelligence and the expansion of electronic commerce, as well as with connections through social networks, new challenges have emerged in society, especially in relation to the elderly who have experienced a devoid of technological, digital and informational resources compared to the reality and contexts in which we live today. It is necessary to analyze how access to digital and technological means “distances” groups in our society from access to information, especially the elderly group, so it is necessary to observe what can be done to minimize the negative effects of this reality so that elderly people are able to follow the virtual “world”. Finally, the present work adopted the deductive method, with a bibliographic and literature review, making it possible to conclude that the advancement of the technological and digital era has removed society, especially the elderly, from the choice of being connected or not, and it is evident that whoever found himself away from digital media would, consequently, move away from access to information and his rights as a citizen.
