Instrumentos de avaliação da síndrome do climatério: uma revisão integrativa

Abstract

Objective: to identify instruments for evaluating, monitoring, or diagnosing climacteric syndrome. Methods: an integrative review, carried out in June 2023, in PubMed, EMBASE, and Scopus databases. The terms “Menopause”, “Perimenopause”, “Postmenopause”, “Menopause rating scale”, “Surveys”, “Questionnaries”, “Scale”, “Symptoms assessment”, “Self-assessment”, “Psychometrics” and “Climateric syndrome” were for the search. Primary studies conducted between 2012 and May 2023 were included. Additionally, AskMEDLINE findings are included. Results: Of the 9,279 studies found, only 567 included at least one of the 11 climacteric syndrome assessment instruments (Simplified Menopause Index, the Greene Climacteric Scale, the Menopause Rating Scale, and the Menopause Rating Scale II, the Menopause Specific Quality of Life Questionnaire, the Hot Flash-related Daily Interference Scale, the Hot Flush Behavior Scale, the Blatt-Kupperman Menopause index, the Women's Health Questionnaire, the Vulvovaginal Symptoms Questionnaire, and the Attitude Towards Menopause). Of these, 10 had evidence of validity. Conclusion: most of the scales were built only to identify menopausal symptoms, raising the need to develop instruments for the climacteric syndrome.
