Between Bonds and Inclusion: Social Psychology reflections at an institution supporting people with disabilities

Abstract

Objective: To analyze the field of Social Psychology based on an observational internship experience, articulating the theoretical knowledge addressed in the classroom with the social dynamics identified in the analyzed context. Methods: This is an experience report developed in the context of the Basic Psychology Internship, carried out between April and May 2026, in an association located in Porto Velho/RO. The experience totaled 40 hours and took place through institutional observation, field activities, and the creation of a field diary during seven visits to the institution. Results: The observed activities, such as welcoming, capoeira, physical education, crafts, and daily life practices developed in the Socio-Occupational Activity Program, highlighted the appreciation of the users' capacities, skills, and potential. The experiences fostered an understanding of the importance of interdisciplinary work, the strengthening of bonds, socialization, and the promotion of autonomy for people with disabilities. Conclusion: The experience made it possible to understand the relevance of Social Psychology in institutional contexts focused on inclusion, articulating theory and practice and fostering an ethical, critical, and sensitive stance towards the observed social demands.
