Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the situation of people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, in particular, children who depend on an early diagnosis and appropriate treatment that enables a better physical, psychic and motor condition, and greater social integration until adulthood. Applied Behavior Analysis is today the most recommended therapeutic approach to autism, although it requires a long, intense treatment period and a wide range of specialized professionals, which entails high treatment costs. This situation has been a source of constant conflict between parents of patients and health care companies and provides an increasing search through the courts in the hope of having guaranteed and protected the fundamental and constitutional right to adequate treatment for their children.
