REFLECTIONS ON GENDER INEQUALITY AND THE CONCRETION OF WOMEN’S RIGHT TO WORK

Abstract

This paper's main objective is to make reflections on the social inequality that still exist between men and women and their consequences when we look at the labour market. To do so, we will analyse the origins of gender inequality and, subsequently, what are the main obstacles faced by Brazilian working women. In addition, we will present data from other countries (both developing and developed countries) to enable comparisons with the Brazilian reality. We will also expose the norms and public policies adopted by the Brazilian State to promote equality between men and women in accessing and remaining in the labour market.
