CYBERBULLYING IN THE WORK ENVIRONMENT: A REFLECTION FROM JOURNALISTIC REPORTS
Abstract
This study aimed to reflect on cyberbullying in the workplace, based on reports published on the topic in online newspapers. A documentary research was carried out in the newspapers Folha de São Paulo, G1 and El País, carried out between January and February 2019, with the search term “cyberbullying”, including publications until 2018. Correlated reports were also included. Finally, eight publications on the topic of interest were identified. From the reading of the reports in full, the following issues were discussed: cyberbullying in teachers, one of the job categories most susceptible to this practice; cyberbullying in different work contexts, with negative effects on workers' physical and mental health; and cyberbullying related to the use of applications, which can become instruments of virtual aggression even in the workplace. In view of these findings, it was identified the need for further research on cyberbullying in work contexts, concomitant to the creation of strategies to promote more collaborative work spaces and cooperation between workers and managers, through an organizational culture that values respect in human relations and ethics in online communication.
