Abstract

Basing on studies of social security law and comparative law, this article aims at a critical-hermeneutic exposition in relation to the Brazilian social security system in comparison with the one used in Icelandic, proposing its relevance to the social sciences. Thus, the clipping is based on the historical, political and legal development of each of the pension systems and highlights the main points of similarity and divergence between what is adopted in the South American and European countries in the face of this public policy. The approach focuses on the bibliographic research and on the results obtained with each model in view of the data from the Global Pension Index for 2021, both in terms of the aspect of economic and financial sustainability, and with regard to the impacts on individual guarantees and social rights of both regimes always in the perspective of judgment.
