Abstract

This article aims to demonstrate that the recognition of nature as a subject of law will be a liberation from the anthropocentric paradigm, contributing to environmental protection and valuation, setting limits to society. Today's society is marked by rapid and constant transformations, many of them determined by rampant capitalism. The destruction of the environment also grows, and with each passing day it takes on devastating proportions, even compromising the fauna, flora and quality of life on global scales. Thus, it appears that the idea of development based on the process of mastery, exploitation and appropriation of nature, in order to provide goods and services to humanity, without worrying about the environment and the survival of species, causes a disruption. of ecological balance. Moreover, it is observed that man's anthropocentric attitudes have devastating consequences, even if they occur over the long term, so these ideas need to be dispelled. Given this, we seek to break paradigms and contribute a new look at nature and all beings that live in it. The adopted method was the inductive, using legal material, from books, scientific articles and documents, to bring to light the controversial issues and respective discussions on the subject. Thus, a review of national and international literature was conducted to verify what recent studies point to about the attribution of legal personality to entities of nature.
