BOLSONARISMO E DESDEMOCRATIZAÇÃO: O ALERTA NAS CONQUISTAS DE CIDADANIA E CONSOLIDAÇÃO DEMOCRÁTICA
Abstract
The political and social movements that take place from June 2013 in Brazil mark a moment of revitalization of the Brazilian right. With the rise of a new right and the election of Jair Bolsonaro emerges a new political phenomenon that is beginning to be identified as pockets, a right-wing populism applied to Brazilian reality. The largely exclusionary characteristics of Bolsonarism lead to a scenario of stagnation and regression in democratic and citizenship instruments that seemed to be consolidated, and is now identified by the terminology of de-democratization. This process clashes with the broadly democratic 1988 Constitution based on tolerance, respect for human rights and the promotion of citizenship. The Constitution itself is the best instrument of resistance to authoritarianism.
