DESMISTIFICANDO O FEMINISMO: DESCONSTRUINDO ESTEREÓTIPOS E PROMOVENDO A IGUALDADE DE GÊNERO NA SOCIEDADE.

Abstract

The present study aims to demystify the stereotypes surrounding the feminist movement by identifying its main stages, highlighting the central idea of its historical evolution, and its importance for promoting gender equality. Such a movement is not limited to a single definition, as it can be considered a process in constant evolution, marked by contradictions and advancements. Further on, the importance of legal achievements over time will be emphasized, such as the demands for basic political, social, and economic rights for women, and the expansion to issues such as sexual freedom and bodily autonomy. Recognizing the diverse experiences of women and seeking to combat prejudices of class, race, and sexuality within the feminist movement. Moreover, by using data from IBGE, the Department of Defense, and others, we will understand that there are still many contemporary situations faced by women, such as gender-based violence, educational inequality, and the unequal division of domestic labor that still need to be discussed and improved.
